The
Project:
Old Acute Services building, Auckland Hospital
Date:
2006
The Client:
Auckland District Hospital Board
The Requirement:
To make repairs where required and recoat the existing finish to
provide warranty extension. This building was waterproofed by
Equus Industries in 1982 using a full Equus waterproof coating
system and the system was then finished with Chevaline
Colourglaze. A very high grade acrylic glaze designed to give
maximum maintenance free life.
The Solution:
The underlying waterproof coating system is still in very good
condition. The glaze coat has worn and whilst still in fair
condition given its age was starting to show signs of wear and
tear. The latest coating system consists of cleaning the
surface, making minor repairs to window sills and other areas,
then re-applying the top glaze coat only.
This project shows the value of
applying a good system in the first instance and then merely
maintaining the protective topcoat. As this project was
originally completed by Equus Industries some 20 years ago we
are still able to offer a continuation of a 10 year warranty.
