The Requirement:
The owner of this old villa in St Mary's Bay, Auckland was
adding on a double garage and another living area. He needed the
floor area waterproof as well as the block wall at the back of
the building. The villa had to be propped up while the
extensions below were carried out.
The Solution:
The certified Equus applicator on this job, who is a great
advocate of our fairly new Debobase 3.5mm Special tanking
membrane from Belgium, suggested that the footings be lined with
this product, together with the floor after which the concrete
pour was able to take place. This was an economical and
effective way of doing the job. With the use of Debobase
3.5mm Special as under slab tanking, the builder and the
owner could rest assured that there would be no problem with the
membrane coming unstuck from the slab should there be any
subsidence in the soil. This is the main advantage of
Debobase 3.5mm Special. It incorporates silane-coated
granules which, when they come into contact with concrete, form
a permanent bond.
